Me versus pronunciation. Pronunciation won.

Sooooo…Fela!, the broadway show, will be performing at my alma mater in about 2 weeks. I called to see if there were any student discounts.

Me [on the phone to box office lady]: “…are there any student discounts for the Fela show?”

Being Nigerian, I pronounced it Feh-la and not Fey-lah or whatever way. Combined with the word “show”, it sounded kinda like I said Fellatio but switched the first two syllables.

After I hung up, the intern next to me and I spent 10 minutes laughing about “Discount fellatio”
